Jim Meek Night
1935 – 2017
At the end of last year we lost one of our longest serving and most active members of the SCA. Jim loved the club and was always ready to help in whatever way he could whether it be performing or taking on duties on the Committee, most latterly club host and raffle organiser.
Jim was a good friend to anyone who knew him and was always happy to help and share ideas with anything to do with Magic. He was always happy to perform whenever asked and as we all know too well it would be either a trick that just would not work out (but with hilarious results) or an amazing piece of Magic that would surprise us all.
The turnout from the Magic community at his funeral was a tribute to Jim as he was so well known and respected, also being a member of Glasgow Magic Circle and Paisley Magic Circle as being well known by most at other Scottish clubs that he would visit when he could.
Everyone who knew Jim will have their own memories and I am sure he will be remembered for some time to come.
This year he will miss Blackpool which he loved to visit with his friends from various clubs and his family are going there in February to scatter Jim’s ashes at the start of this year’s convention.
On the 23rd February 2018 Scottish Magic clubs plan to hold a night for Jim (details to follow) with any proceeds going to British heart foundation and I hope to see some of you there.
